Hong Kong Film Festival UK 2025: Valley of the Shadow of Death

Pastor Leung struggles between faith and seeking vengeance. After being released from prison, the man who caused his daughter’s death is taken into custody by his church. Should Leung pursue punishment and sin, or should he practice what he preaches on God’s forgiveness? Formidable yet restrained, Anthony Wong (Infernal Affairs, Initial D)’s powerful performance as the torn pastor is the heart of the film. A cross is carried against the windy bare hills, and conflict overwhelms the soul.

Premiering at Tokyo International Film Festival 2024, Valley of the Shadow of Death is an ambitious feature co-directed by Jeffrey Lam Sen and Antonio Tam. Both under 30, Lam and Tam are two exciting names emerging from Hong Kong’s new generation of filmmakers.
